- This role is to support the project team's detailed engineering design activities by assisting in the development and completion of project deliverables including but not limited to engineering drawing reviews, project plans, evaluations, reports, and other project needs.
- The Project Engineer will also support the procurement and construction planning effort and field execution activities during Phase 4.
- Ensures safety principles and tenets of operation are followed throughout project completion. Support all requirements included in the Site Safety Plan including all safety policies and procedures implemented by the project team
- Serve as focal contact for the growth of the project's OSBL scope and brownfield areas.
- Monitor contractor performance against the project's execution plan, specifically design, procurement, constructability, and material management objectives.
- Provide input for the monitoring and maintenance of the cost estimate and construction activities schedules for all assigned areas.
- Review and approve Key Project Documents (P&ID's, Plot Plans, 3D Model, Electrical One-lines, Paving and grading, Underground Drainage). Monitor's/reviews all design output of the EPC contractor. Arranges and coordinates input from construction specialists, both internal and external
- Assist contractor(s) with various design deliverables such as P&ID, plot plan, piping isometrics, laboratory development, etc. and responds to contractor technical questions related to interpretation of "owner requirements," design philosophy, system sketches, and others.
- Verifies P.O.'s, bid tabs, specification bid packages, design packages, vendor documentation, etc. meets technical competency of designs, project requirements, and specifications.
- Participate in HAZOP reviews and associated P&ID and system sketch reviews, etc.
- Manage the Management of Change process for engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Reviews cost trends and change orders with company Project Controls.
- Coordinate and provide engineering and construction support for on-plot and off-plot interface as required.
- Facilitate and manage RFI and field clarification efforts to support EPC construction effort.
- Coordinate with safety officers and coaches to ensure all expectations regarding safety are well understood and incidents are promptly investigated per site policy.
- Actively participates in project risk management process, continually striving to minimize risk.
- Support the QA/QC process and QA/QC Manager to ensure that the QA/QC Plan is in place and followed by all contract and company representatives.
- Review turnover packages for completeness and participates in site system walkdowns for Mechanical Completion acceptance including the PSSR process.
- Obtain as-built information and supports the document turnover effort at the end of the project.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- At least 7 - 10 years of capital project construction field experience for projects greater than $20 MM
- Project Management skills related to capital construction activities related to tankage, structural steel and piping systems, mechanical systems and rotating and fixed equipment design and installation
- Experience with Microsoft Projects, Primavera, Microsoft software tools, capital stewardship policies and project management requirements.
