This position will support NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering Directorate's Avionics Systems Division in a lab manager capacity supporting various Human Spaceflight Programs. This individual will serve as the Artemis Network Validation & Integration Laboratory (ANVIL) manager and will work in tandem with the Gateway Command and Data Handling (C&DH) System Manager and Deputy System Manager. This role serves as an environment that enable development and testing of network architectures, equipment, configurations, and security features early in support of Artemis programs

This onsite position is at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage customer lab facilities including budgets, schedules, task prioritization, task assignments. Specifically, develop budget estimates for the lab, resolve/prioritize necessary lab procurements, provide budget inputs to the system manager and/or branch management, and report technical, cost, and schedule status each quarter.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans.
  • Development of Project Bids as new projects come into the lab.
  • Work as a member of the Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) Working Group.
  • Serve as a technical specialist in addressing any issues and risks associated with C&DH.
  • Support problem resolution focused on Gateway but may include other NASA Programs (Artemis, Orion, CCP, ISS, etc.)
  • Ability to engage on trade studies and analysis
  • Coordinate requirements and technical objectives with subject matter experts and collaborators
  • Prepare and present decision packages and change requests for program forums
  • Complete other duties for the customer as required

What You Need to Be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in technical subject area
  • 8 or more years of professional engineering experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of NASA programs
  • Ability to optimally apply oral and written communication to express technical concepts
  • Experience working across diverse teams and many different engineering fields
  • Experience in project management including budgets and schedules
  • Experience as a lab manager
  • Familiarity with networks. Expertise in Time Triggered Ethernet would be of significant benefit.
  • Familiarity with Linux/VxWorks
  • Experience in code design

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:
  • Advanced Technical Degree
  • Experience in C&DH matters associated with human spaceflight
  • Knowledge of project management of software intensive projects to include other NASA flight projects
  • Knowledge of NASA systems
  • Experience performing in or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
