This project is in the proposal stage, we’re awaiting to be awarded the contractThe objective of this contract is to obtain all infrastructure, including temporary housing structures, physical plant, staffing, resources, services, and supplies necessary to house aliens in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a safe and secure environment. International SOS is looking for an experienced Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for detainees, ensuring they receive appropriate care while addressing the unique challenges of a correctional environment. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to promote mental well-being, manage psychiatric conditions, and facilitate crisis intervention when necessary. Key ResponsibilitiesProvides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques. Performs psychiatric evaluations for detainees via onsite and telepsychiatry services for scheduled appointments, emergency, or urgent care visits. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions and has clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessments, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis interventions. The Psychiatrist may serve as a mental health team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults and triage.  Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members which enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care. Orders diagnostic tests and consultations and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.  Ensures that the practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with Joint Commission and clinical practice psychiatric guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations. Participates in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program. Performs on call duties. Involved in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives. Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and Advanced Practitioners to assist in implementation of treatment plan as appropriate regarding their patients.  Consults with the Clinical Director for complex psychiatric patients and as required by IHSC policy. Provides infirmary care including admission, discharge, and daily rounds for detainees that require higher levels of psychiatric care or monitoring. Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and initiates treatment plans for detainees as required by IHSC policy, or as required for detainee psychiatric complaint. Follows IHSC policies in the management of significant mental illness including prevention of violence, homicide, self-harm and suicide. Applies knowledge of drugs and therapeutics when prescribing medication. Applies patient-specific knowledge to monitor and control stress levels and provide emotional support and counseling to detainees. Coordinates psychiatric care needs of detainees including referrals to off-site consultants. Solicits and reviews pertinent psychiatric records as indicated Adheres to universal precautions. Utilizes and documents interpretation and/or translation and/or assisted communication services as needed to ensure ability to communicate with detainees or others who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) or have a communication disability or impediment. Maintains flexibility and adaptability to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements. Provide on-call coverage as needed after regular work hours and may need to return to the facility outside of normal work hours for urgent mental health needs. Provides relevant patient education to detainees verbally and/or with handouts. Documents detainee care visits in the required health record using required format, in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance. Maintains patient confidentiality and confidentiality of medical records. Completes all training as required/assigned. Serve in acting capacity as part of the IHSC behavioral health leadership team. Mentors' Psychiatric APP onboarding and training. Attends on-site, regional, and national meetings as required. Participates in the Psychiatric APP peer review process. Assists in program development, policy review and revisions, and data collection. This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not specifically listed above.
