Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled QC & Safety Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the QC department, ensure quality of product, hire/fire, ensure goods are properly packaged, rejects, returns/repairs, supervise QC and packaging persons. Oversees daily production to make sure it is safe and efficient, that processes are being followed. Holds meetings with departments and supervisors to go over safety and quality issues and keeps company in compliance with OSHA and company protocol. Handles injuries, follow ups and works with plant manager and Ops manager to handle all claims.

Responsibilities:

Enforce quality control programs and procedures

Conduct inspections and testing of components and finished products

Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with manufacturing departments to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Train manufacturing staff in quality control processes and procedures.

Conduct audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.

Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

Provide safety training to manufacturing personnel

Maintain safety documentation including training records, incident reports, and safety data sheets (SDS).

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.

Collaborate with Plant Manager and Ops Manager to address workplace safety concerns.

Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.

Supervise a team of QC inspectors and safety specialists, providing guidance and support in their roles.

Coordinate work schedules and assignments to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency.

Audit and approve time sheets

Foster a culture of quality and safety awareness among manufacturing staff.

Participate in management meetings to report on quality and safety performance and discuss improvement initiatives.

Lead or participate in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing processes and reducing defects.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, safety, and efficiency.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and safety and develop action plans for improvement.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality inspections, safety audits, and corrective actions.

Prepare reports summarizing quality and safety performance metrics for management review

Requirements:

To excel as the QC & Safety Supervisor, a blend of educational qualifications, technical skills, and personal attributes is crucial. Technical skills encompass a deep understanding of quality standards and statistical analysis methods for quality control. In terms of safety, proficiency in regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA standards), risk assessment, and safety management systems is essential. Analytical abilities for root cause analysis, strong interpersonal and communication skills for team leadership and collaboration, and proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications are also important.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in quality control, safety management, or related roles within a manufacturing environment.

Experience in supervisory or leadership positions, demonstrating the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality assurance practices, and safety regulations.

Proficiency in ERP systems

Strong understanding of statistical methods and tools for quality control

Knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA)

Experience in implementing safety programs and procedures.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively interact with teams and management

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and lead a team of quality and safety professionals.

Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities to address quality issues and safety concerns.

Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding quality standards and safety protocols.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Spanish Speaking

Familiarity with the mattress manufacturing sector and of manufacturing quality and safety requirements.

Awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in quality control and safety management.

Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to manufacturing, quality control, and occupational health and safety.

Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and stay updated with evolving industry standards and practices.
