POSITION SUMMARY:

The Structural Heart Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse who facilitates seamless care from referral through follow up. This position plans, coordinates and facilitates the care of the structural heart patient according to established national standards and practices. The registered nurse, functions autonomously, demonstrates professional behavior, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. The Structural Heart Nurse Navigator is involved in education of patients, families, physicians, and staff. This position works closely with a multidisciplinary team including cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, cardiologists, radiologists and other members of the health care team in providing care for the structural heart patients. In addition, he/she will be accountable for tracking identified navigational and quality metrics as well as implementation of interventions to attain and maintain set metrics.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Training Experience Required

  • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Graduate from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program preferred.

  • Strong Clinical experience – prior cardiovascular experience required. Cardiac clinic experience preferred.

  • Prior Cardiac Cath lab, Cardiovascular ICU experience preferred.

    CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • RN with current licensure or with temporary permit to practice from the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.

  • Current BLS

  • Current ACLS
