HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is a439-bedacute care facility that has provided quality care to the Lake Houston area for over 25 years. It is home to the area’s only comprehensive cardiac, neuroscience and women services programs. Our Women & Children’s Center provides Level II and III neonatal intensive care units, high-risk obstetrics, a breast diagnostic center, a designated pediatric unit, and the area’s only pediatric emergency department.
HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Rapid Response
What you will do in this role:
The responsibilities of the Rapid Responder will include but are not limited to the following:
- Responds to all RRTs (Rapid Response calls), Code Blue, and Code Neuro.
- Communicates daily with each charge nurse to identify high risk patients
- Rounds on all medical-surgical units every two hours to address MEWS scores and address questions and/or concerns of staff.
- Assesses all “at risk” patients as identified by MEWS score increases
- Monitors surgery schedule and rounds on any “at risk” post op patients
- Facilitates debriefings/critiques post codes
- Enters RRT data and creates monthly reports using excel, reports data to appropriate committees
- Completes 24 hours post RRT/Code Blue follow up and documentation.
- Leads and facilitates RRT/Code Blue Committee
- Refers patient complaints to appropriate Unit Managers/Directors.
- Utilizes chain of command to ensure appropriate action is taken
- Facilitates a staff satisfaction feedback system for RRT
Will be responsible for knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.
Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:
- Licensed by the State of Texas as a registered nurse
- ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale Certification, CCRN, and or CEN.
- PALS preferred immediately, required with 1 year completion in position
- Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience in Intensive Care or Emergency Department.
- IMU/Step-down experience may be considered.
- BSN required, will consider ADN applicants who will commit to completing BSN within 2 years of starting
