- Overseeing the SACM strategy, policies, processes and overall direction in partnership with CIO and Section Directors and their teams.
- Manages the SACM Analyst, who is responsible for data verification and auditing assets
- Quality assurance of the data contained within the CMDB
- Accountable for the data quality processes. This includes ensuring the data managers understand their role, spotting process improvements and resolving processes issues through the Data Owner and ensuring all CIs have complete dataset
- Identifies new items discovered and works with the SACM analyst to reconcile them with the CMDB
- Reports and escalates exceptions to the Change Process to the Change Manager
- Identifies the Data Manager and Data Owner for new CIs
- Identifies new data managers and provides training on the tool, processes and standards.
- Interprets through audits results and verification, exceptions in the CMDB data and facilitates the resolution of these through the data manager.
- Administration of reference data in line with Configuration Management Policies
- Work with the SACM analyst on the preparation of data for bulk uploads and bulk updates
- Work with the SACM analyst on the creation of advanced reports for users to assist with data quality checking/improvement
- Polices the information in the CMDB against defined standards and escalates where standards are not being met, escalating through regular reporting
- Working with owners of processes interfacing with Configuration Management to ensure that the checkpoints are producing quality data for the CMDB.
- Must have a deep understanding of ServiceNow and working knowledge of the Common Service Data Model
- IT Asset Management and/or Configuration Management experience.
- Experience in working with inventory discovery tools and infrastructure management tools used to provide asset inventory data (e.g., ServiceNow Service Mapping)
- Experience driving SACM process adherence throughout a complex IT organization using data.
- Experience in the use of KPIs to track trends and drive behavior.
- Experience using data analysis tools to gain insights into data quality and trends.
- Experience with IT Service Management, ITIL practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate CMDB, Asset Management concepts, rationale, and implementation tools and techniques
- Practical experience with relational database structures and with record relationships and data keys
- Have the ability to quickly establish credibility with the delivery teams (internal and external).
