Title: Senior Cloud Network Engineer

Location: Austin, TX (mixed of remote and in-person work)

The Senior Cloud Network Engineer (SCNE) is responsible for designing cloud infrastructure and for supporting datacenters, offices, and business connectivity needs. Leveraging practical, hands-on experience, the SCNE partners and collaborates with other teams including software developers, application engineers, and infrastructure teams to design and support a highly resilient cloud environment. The SCNE acts as a high-level escalation point for projects and trouble issues and may train and mentor other less-experienced team members.

Your role:
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available network solutions across a hybrid, multi-cloud environment
  • Utilize coding skills to automate infrastructure deployments across multiple data centers and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools and processes for network performance monitoring, trending, and capacity planning for network systems
  • Partner and collaborate with other teams including software developers, application engineers, and infrastructure teams to design and support cloud systems
  • Assist in creating infrastructure roadmaps, budgets, and evaluating new technologies
  • Support hardware and software for all physical and virtual network devices including Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, encryption hardware, IPS, VOIP telephony communication, and wireless
  • Proactively replace network hardware as needed and perform regular and proactive updates to software utilities and operating systems of network devices
  • Setup and maintain disaster recovery systems, facilities, and procedures to support business resumption for disaster recovery scenarios
  • Complete incident and service requests with an emphasis on excellent service and within SLA targets
  • Conduct proactive capacity planning to ensure systems support customer demand
  • Act as an escalation point to operations teams
  • Develop and maintain support and architectural documentation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule for after-hours support
  • Stay abreast of current networking technologies (Ex: Cloud networking, load balancing, WAFs, cloud networking, security, and automation)
  • Continually find opportunities for ongoing professional growth and learning
  • Proactively find ways to support the IT team goals and recommend solutions
  • Proactively communicate status reports and opportunities
  • Effectively manage time and resources, including allocating resources from other groups and coordinating testing efforts of other departments
  • Mentor and train less-experienced team members on troubleshooting and supporting network devices
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes
  • Complete required regulatory training as assigned
  • Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations, and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and Fair Lending regulations

What you've got:
  • Expert level understanding of core networking technologies including: L2/L3 networking (OSPF, BGP, VLAN); Palo Alto firewall (PA-5200/PA-3260/VM-300); AZURE/AWS network technologies (VNet. ExpressRoute, virtual network gateways)
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts of load balancing, WAFs, cloud networking, security, and automation
  • Highly analytical network troubleshooting skills utilizing packet capture/analysis packages such as Wireshark, etc.
  • Expert knowledge on cloud monitoring systems and best practices
  • Scripting skills using tools such as Python, Terraform, PowerShell, etc.
  • 7+ years of hands-on network/security experience working in IT operations and support
  • 5+ years of experience designing and supporting cloud technologies in AWS or Azure
  • Experience using ticketing system for incident, problem, and change management
  • Hands on practical automation experience
  • Experience writing network configuration and design documentation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience mentoring and/or training others
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field preferred
  • Certification in AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, and/or Google cloud technologies preferred
