The Role: Senior Commercial ManagerThe Location: Houston, TXThe Team: North American Upstream Sales TeamThe Impact: This role is a key member of the North America Upstream sales team focused on growing our partnerships with our Upstream clients. This person will drive growth of Commodity Insights products and services by developing and enhancing relationships with executives and decision makers at key accounts with the end goal of increasing value and customer satisfaction. The Commercial Manager is also responsible for creating strategic commercial and go-to-market plans to which result in successfully implementing commercial agreements.In this role, the Commercial Manager has, amongst others, the following responsibilities:

Manage existing client relationships and retain and grow their portfolio

Identify and initiate new relationships within existing clients

Develop and nurture deep and strong relationships with client organizations, addressing their needs, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Develop an exceptional understanding of, and stay current on, the S&P Global Commodity Insights products and functionality and their application to specific clients/job functions

Produce accurate sales forecasting and keep an up-to-date pipeline, contacts and meeting notes in SalesForce CRM system

Stay current on competitor offerings to identify the strengths and vulnerabilities of S&P Global Commodity Insights offerings in comparison

Contribute to the business strategy through a deep understanding of industry requirements, market trends and client requirements

Maintain a high level of relevant domain knowledge in order to have meaningful conversations with clients and prospects

Work within a sales team collaborating with sales specialists and relationship specialists to proactively address customer requirements

Develop and maintain territory and account plans which outline how sales targets will be met on an ongoing basis

What We’re Looking For: Experience managing strategic, regional and complex accounts, preferably in upstream oil and gas, a proven sales track record with strong knowledge in the Exploration and Production space.Basic Qualifications:

Degree with 5+ years of successful sales experience managing major or complex accounts, preferably in the upstream provider role

Consultative sales and negotiation skills experience, possess high integrity and is proficient to all phases of selling cycle from need creation, proposal preparation, negotiation to deal closure

Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills, adds value to the relationship by distilling, summarizing, interpreting and communicating information to facilitate its usefulness

Proven leadership in managing strategic accounts, multi-cultural awareness and regional experience is preferred

Strong planning and organization skills, able to prioritize

Competent with systems (Salesforce/ Equivalent CRM, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Travel required
