Position SummaryThe Senior Database Administrator role works closely with engineering functional teams to ensure data integrity, availability and performance of critical database infrastructure. In this role you’ll be involved in the data pipeline process, deployment and management of DB servers, schema and table structures, best practices to ensure high availability and performance of critical data, and provide guidance and best practices to leadership and data consumers.Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Installation, configuration, administration and support of database solutions, including but not limited to MySQL, Postgres, Cloudera HaDoop, MongoDB, and Oracle
  • Expert in understanding data structure and implementation of schemas, tables, partitions, indexes, views, stored procedures and triggers.
  • Expert in data preparation, ingestion/ETL/pipelining process, extraction, SQL, PLSQL, noSQL, aggregations, client accessibility to DB (ODBC, JDBC, drivers, DB UIs)
  • Create, maintain and ensure data integrity, availability, accessibility, security and monitoring of resources and data pipeline processes.
  • Understands and recommends best practices for backup, disaster recovery, redundancy, upgrades, server & query performance, capacity and storage planning.
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, data lake and cloud deployments.
  • Provides SQL query performance reviews and advises team on proper query best practices.
  • Provides periodic training, feedback sessions, and reporting of DB usage, performance and future implementations.
  • Maintains documentation of current implementation and data pipeline processes.
  • Familiarity of Linux and Windows OS basic administration to support DB applications, features and functionality.
  • Familiarity of scripting languages such as shell, python, java, R a plus.
  • Working knowledge and experience of micro services, virtualization, AWS Kubernetes/ECS, Docker and serverless databases a plus.
  • Experience in an Agile environment utilizing JIRA/Scrum a plus.
  • Actively takes ownership of projects, issues, and day to day activities with minimal oversight and guidance.
Background & Competencies Required:5+ years’ experience:
  • Deploying and maintaining database solutions and maintaining data pipeline processes.
  • Complex data manipulation, processing, ETL, retrieval, PLSQL, SQL query JOINs, Meta structure, schema and table deployments.
  • Database monitoring and performance management such as proper partitioning, indexing, implementing stored procedures and triggers to semi-automate aggregations and DB management processes.
3+ years’ experience:
  • Working with data warehousing, data lake, and cloud solutions.
  • Working with Linux & Windows OS to perform basic administration of files and installations to support database features and functionality.

Will be remote until offices reopen and due to space limitations upon reopen there will be a rotation of in-office vs remote working days. It is possible based on additional conversations with leadership, this role can be predominately remote.- Education:Bachelor’s minimum, Master’s preferred Computer Science or quantitative field- Years of experience required:5 years minimum DBA experience
