Advice Methodology Development & GovernanceThe Senior Director, Advice Methodology Development & Governance job is responsible for the development and deployment of an end-to-end road map of financial planning, retirement planning, and wellness capabilities that drive positive outcomes for plan participants, plan sponsors, and individual wealth clients leveraging the latest internally and externally developed financial planning methodology and behavioral research. The role is also responsible for staying abreast of developments in financial and retirement planning research, authoring original research in related topics, and coordinating the review and development of such research with partner vendors and the TIAA Institute. The incumbent will lead a team of methodology research, development and governance experts that supports financial planning, retirement advice, and financial wellness solutions with respect to capability definition, appropriateness of methodology, support of intended outcomes, and support of omnichannel delivery. This job provides methodology and deployment subject matter expertise to the design, definition and deployment of a diverse portfolio financial planning and wellness capabilities across multiple client segments and delivery channels. This job is part of a team of professionals focused on the creation and management of advice-based solutions, promotions, communications, distribution strategies and programs designed to achieve business objectives.Key Responsibilities and Duties

Develops multi-year strategic roadmap of financial planning, retirement advice, and financial wellness capabilities that encourage progressive engagement while demonstrably helping clients achieve better accumulation and decumulation outcomes in a multi-segment, omnichannel framework that supports experimentation and continuous improvement.

Leads efforts to translate best practices and new developments in retirement and financial planning research – including self-authored, internally-, and externally-coordinated – into actionable methodology frameworks and capabilities that address TIAA client accumulation, decumulation, and financial wellness needs.

Develops collaborative relationships with internal partners (e.g. Enterprise Analytics, TIAA Institute, Consultant Relations, etc.) to perform methodology and outcomes research that informs evolving methodology strategy and vendor engagement

Serves as a subject matter expert on financial planning, retirement planning, and financial wellness capabilities supporting the development of advisor/consultant best practices, training, communications and marketing campaigns, and capability development.

Partners with Client Service and Technology, Client Experience, Advice Product Management, Advice Strategy, Legal, Risk and Compliance to ensure that methodology capabilities and features are properly scoped, implemented, tested and maintained.

Partners with TIAA Product and Actuarial services to ensure that products are accurately modeled within retirement and financial planning methodologies and that Product Managers/Developers are informed of the methodological implications of product design.

Leads for methodology due diligence and governance for new and existing capabilities and features

Responsible for establishing methodology standards and guidance for usage in omnichannel settings.

Engage with Vendor analytics teams to support methodology validation and change management.

Certified Financial Planner and/or Chartered Financial Analyst designation highly preferred, additional financial planning, retirement planning or investment-related designations (RMA, CIMA, etc.) preferred

Extensive experience with evaluation and deployment of self-service and advisor-assisted financial planning, retirement planning, and wellness solutions

Primary author of technical papers on financial and retirement planning topics
