SUMMARY

GameStop is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. Working with general supervision, the Cloud Technologies Advanced Engineer is responsible for feature design and development, maintenance, and production support of all cloud technology environments. This position is also responsible for assessing application readiness for the cloud and providing solutions for new cloud toolsets to achieve readiness. Desired business outcomes include stable, accurate, efficient environments to support leadership decision making with regards to business cloud implementations and migrations. Associate may interact with his or her manager as necessary to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor's advance approval. The ideal candidate will be customer-obsessed, highly collaborative, and passionate about creating customer experiences that are both frictionless and delightful.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with other Information Technology associates and functional business teams to build, deliver, and support effective, creative cloud technology solutions aligned to specified business initiatives
  • Participate in and oversee the design of Cloud solutions, from conceptual, logical and physical design to meet business and technical requirements, leveraging architecture patterns and following development processes
  • Collaborate with strategy leaders and business executives to understand business goals/objectives driving business growth and transformation
  • Provide recommendations to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for information systems
  • Developing a broad understanding of how various systems and AWS Services interact, and leverage that understanding in the design of new services and improvement of existing services
  • Serve as a change leader who guides and supports business and IT customers
  • Define technology reference architectures for guiding the development of infrastructure as code building blocks
  • Evaluates and creates new tools and techniques to facilitate effective infrastructure related practices and setting the standard for highest quality of work. Acts as a Mentors for others and leading by example
  • Lead efforts in Automating Cloud Administration and IT Operations tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools
  • Building and maintaining Cloud Formation templates, Chef Cookbooks, and bootstrapping scripts to automate and deploy AWS resources and configuration changes, provide training, mentoring, and best practices to IT teams
  • Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentoring, ensure proper architectural oversight, and guarantee delivery of quality infrastructure code by the team
  • Mentor engineering staff on Continuous Integration or deployment automation best practices
  • Actively taking lead on efforts to improve the availability, performance and the customer experience of our systems.
  • Working directly with other IT teams to identify and resolve primary causes of service impacting issues and to build auto mitigation to common failure scenarios
  • Provides highest level troubleshooting on unique problems unresolved at lower levels
  • Based upon management direction, plans and implements strategies for meeting cloud technology needs
  • Monitors project deliverables, as directed, to ensure project and functional leaders receive accurate, timely updates as required

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience required
  • 10+ years of experience with architecting/engineering IT solutions, with proven experience-based expertise in Windows Server, eCommerce, Web, or Retail environments preferred
  • Agile software development, Azure or Amazon Cloud experience preferred, configuration management and Infrastructure as code, and DevOps tools such as Puppet, Chef, PowerShell and DSC experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a retail high-volume E-Commerce environment preferred
  • At least 2-3 years' experience working in Agile and Scrum environments
  • IT project management experience preferred
  • Certification in MCSE, ITIL, AWS Architect, AWS DevOps highly preferred, although specific commensurate experience may be considered in substitution

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Expert knowledge and experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell
  • Expert knowledge on related technical skill sets and technologies including but not limited to AWS, VMWare, Windows Server, Networking, Scripting and Automation, Networking, Security/Firewalls
  • Expert and current knowledge of emerging technologies and the expertise to find practical uses for these technologies
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture concepts, best practices and tools
  • Advanced expertise in scripting, configuration management, IT automation, and cloud technologies
  • Proficient ability to use various source control systems like Git, SVN, TFS
  • Proficient knowledge of SOAP and REST web services
  • Proficient knowledge object oriented design and development
  • Proficient knowledge of effective problem solving and identifying innovative solutions, including new products
  • Proficient analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate existing or proposed new solutions for potential flaws or improvement opportunities - including alignment to departmental goals and standards
  • Proficient knowledge of standard project management practices
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient knowledge with Scrum and Agile Development
