Senior GIS Programmer Salary: $70,000 - 90,000 annually JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Deputy CIO - Application Development, maintain and create geographic applications. Create, support, and maintain G.I.S. applications using appropriate G.I.S. software. Build geographic web and client-server applications. Perform mapmaking and GIS analysis. Perform other related work as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Write programs and develop applications using .NET, HTML, ArcGIS Server, and MS SQL. Create, support, maintain, and improve G.I.S. applications for general use by staff. Prepare complete, effective technical reports for developed applications. Work with other Information Services staff to integrate GIS applications with new and existing systems. Integrate G.I.S. mapping data with other SQL, iSeries, and Domino databases using WebFOCUS reporting platform. Train other employees in the use of G.I.S. software. Provide technical support to other G.I.S. users. Analyze and perform quality checks on G.I.S. data. Perform G.I.S. analysis. Digitize, edit, and maintain geographic map layers. Conduct field/plat research to resolve data discrepancies. Read instruction manuals, program listings, computer printouts, maps, and other documents. Plan and organize daily activities effectively. Work independently. Maintain computer-based data and records. Train other employees in the use of ESRI products. REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES: Bachelor's degree required in Geography, Computer Science, or related technical field. G.I.S. Certificate preferred. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Three years of experience required developing web applications. Prefer working knowledge of statistical and geographic analytical techniques, ESRI ArcGIS Server, ESRI ArcGIS Javascript API, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Desktop, and Microsoft Office Products. Prefer knowledge of the following programming languages: .NET, Javascript, HTML, SQL,. Effective oral and written communication skills required. Must have working knowledge of and skills using work stations, servers, relational databases, and networks. Must be able to effectively relate technical information to laypersons.
