Job Description This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided. For all external applicants, we are targeting a start date on or after January 10 th 2022 for this position. For this role within General Motors, you are responsible for guiding the development of software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies.
You will work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications.
Updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or tackle a particular business problem.
You will develop your skill further by working closely with more senior developers to ensure code alignment with standards, and convey those skills and standards to junior developers.

Role Responsibilities:

Implement localization or modernization of software
Integrate software with existing systems
Software testing and quality assurance
Document software code and ensure that user documentation i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements
Maintain standards compliance

You will need to have shown experience in the following:

Full-stack application development using standard design patterns/frameworks
Must have experience as part of a software project delivery effort
Demonstrate proficiency in several programming languages, tools and/or technologies
Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software applications
Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code or solution/configuration
Assists with Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement
Knowledge of Software testing, quality assurance and solutions testing including automation
Work closely with senior developers, software engineers and/or data scientist to gain additional knowledge and expertise.
Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology
Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.
Models GM behaviors and crafts a winning culture.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience
Proficiency in Java
Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework
Experience with Angular or preferably AngularJS
Familiarity with SOAP and the development of RESTful services
Relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL
Git software version control
Experience working in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Pivotal Cloud Foundry and/or Kubernetes
Familiarity with Microsoft DevOps, VSTS, or FTS
Microservices architecture
Spring Integration
Jenkins, Redis, Kibana
