Oversee the processes, tools and measures used the by the team to monitor and detect risks and vulnerabilities related to Mainframe and Database security.

Hire, evaluate, and supervise a team. Provide guidance and training as necessary to develop team members. Set performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

Ensure, manage, maintain, and enhance security controls (alerts, rules, policies, and signatures) on the security platforms.

Support the incident response team in responding to and resolving complex incidents and security issues related to Mainframe and Database security. Determine the root cause and implements corrective action with appropriate level of assistance. Elevate potential concerns and gaps as appropriate.

Monitor the operation of systems to ensure business continuity.

Develop and direct periodic recertification of all tasks and process documentation.

Monitor and improve up-to-date documentation, procedures, and workflows to assist in performing event & incident investigations. Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and procedures.

Review and oversee security audits on a regular basis to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.

What it takes:

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or information technology-related field or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.

Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of information technology or security experience. Previous people-leadership experience preferred.

Additional specializations that will make an impact:

Experience working in a mainframe & database security or mainframe & database support role.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment

Experience working with or managing teams developing in the cloud.

Foundational technical acumen in the AWS cloud environment

If the candidate does not already possess the CISSP, the candidate is required to obtain the Security+ within a year & CISSP within 3 years.
