Our client in Odessa, TX is seeking a

Senior Engineer, Networking, who will work closely with our team of Principal Network Engineers and infrastructure group to maintain, update, and introduce new functionality to the existing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Handles escalations from Tier 2 teams
  • Follow standards - update and provide documentation of current and new processes which adhere to best practices
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management
  • Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Support of disaster recovery solutions
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction
  • Fast turnaround of customer requests
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Technical Requirements – Working knowledge or SME of a majority of the following:
  • Strong network infrastructure support and administration skills (both wired and wireless LAN)
  • Excellent skills; Cisco and Meraki Routers and Switches
  • Strong knowledge of firewall solutions, both software and hardware (Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto a plus)
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities, including working with clients to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate network/systems issues and resolutions to clients
  • Troubleshooting VPN issues
  • Strong server infrastructure support skills, including Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 (DNS, DHCP, on-premise, and cloud)
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies and WAN communications, including TCP/IP (routing and subnetting), QoS, SD-WAN, MPLS, IPSec, VSAT, MetroEthernet, DSL, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer2 and Layer3 Cisco switches
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, must be able to work effectively with technical and non-technical remote support
  • Experience with Network Monitoring tools Auvik and Traverse

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years in the technology field with deep hands-on experience and supporting technology infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of network theory required
  • Experience in a managed services environment preferred
  • CCNP and CCDP certification desired, CCNA Voice a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment, handle pressure, and manage work under tight deadlines
  • Basic project management skills are a plus
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required
