Houston, Texas Downtown area is searching for a Site Reliability Engineer to join their Commodities and Global Markets Technology team. The Site Reliability Engineer will play a driving role in modernizing their production environment. The Site Reliability Engineer will achieve this through simplification, optimization, and effective risk management practices. Best candidate will have proven experience being able to operate hands-on in diagnosing technical issues as well as providing new solution designs. About:The Site Reliability Engineer will need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced, solution-focused environment and draw on their collaborative and problem-solving skills to achieve optimal outcomes for the team and stakeholders in a space that is undergoing a large Public Cloud transformation. The Site Reliability Engineer will need to be able to think critically to understand and navigate through to outcomes and use their exceptional people skills to negotiate and manage through ambiguity as they achieve the desired results.Required Skills:- Experience, or an interest in cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes etc.)
- Strong conceptual understanding of all levels within the technology stack (networks, storage, operating system, virtualization, database, and applications)
- Mastery in at least two or more software languages (e.g. Python, Java, etc.) with respect to designing, coding, testing, and software delivery
- Familiarity with Database Technologies (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, Amazon Aurora)
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with business users
- A self-motivated, inquisitive and methodical style of problem-solving
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications
- A track record for spotting problems, areas for improvements and performance bottlenecks.
