Software Engineer

Amentum is now hiring a Software Engineer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Candidates located near Ft. Gordon in Augusta, GA and Ft. Cavazos in Killeen, TX will be considered and will report to our SATCOM remote offices/integration sites. You will support an Army program office assisting programs with system integration related to upgrade efforts and the testing and configuration of network components.Hybrid telework opportunities are available for those living in the area.Responsibilities:

Support the integration of new and/or upgrades components related to the testing/configuration of network components on the Emulation Test Beds such as traffic stimulation (i.e., TGEN).

Support system testing by performing various tasks such as test-scenario development.

Perform network traffic stimulation (e.g., TGEN), system configurations, test-run execution and monitoring, network-data capture, data storage, and post-test database generation.

Conduct data analysis analyzing the network data collected from the test runs and producing data products for management review. This includes 1) developing relevant performance metrics (e.g. throughput, latency, packet completion rate, etc.); 2) producing network topology graphs and correlating its impact on network connectivity during the test run; and 3) identifying anomalous network behavior and providing explanations and/or directions on how to resolve the issue.

Develop and implement a test plan to validate major rewrite of a backend processor in C.

Design and develop new GUI screens to display network performance statistics.

Update the TRANCE backend PCAP parser to recognize packets from various VLAN locations.

Develop automated and customized set of SQL queries to analyze network statistics.

Troubleshoot external network issues as they arise.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field, and at least 6 years of related DoD software engineer support experience.

Or a High school diploma/GED, and at least 10 years of DoD software engineer support experience.

Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.

Knowledge of tactical communications equipment and the network architecture.
