The Technology Department has an opening for a Solution Architect, Health Platform. The Pharmacy Technology team is building new cloud native capabilities that will be the foundation for exciting innovative business initiatives and allow us to provide better customer experiences aimed at improving the health and well-being of our customers. The Pharmacy Technology team has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Solution Architect to be part of a growing team dedicated to enabling key transformational initiatives for the health services business unit. This position is located in Dallas, Texas.

Position Purpose As a Solution Architect on the Health Platform team, you will be responsible for creating practical solution architectures that will be implemented by project teams. You will collaborate with senior leaders and product managers to understand strategic and functional requirements, and you will collaborate with other architect and technical subject matter experts across the organization to be sure the architectures also align with standard and supported technology patterns.

The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background with several years of development and a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure. You will be passionate about providing practical and compelling technology solutions that are secure, reliable, and resilient, and thrive in a fast-paced agile delivery environment with team members working around the globe. You are an independent, self-starter who takes the initiative, actively communicates with your leadership and team members ensuring effective awareness, collaboration and alignment vertically and horizontally.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborates with the Enterprise Architect (EA), business and the project team to understand business requirements and strategies, ensures completeness of requirements and create suitable software architectures to support those needs
  • Works with Technical Leads to identify and mitigate architectural risks and issues across programs and projects.
  • Drives resolution of significant architectural issues and assists in escalation as needed.
  • Defines the structure of the system, its interfaces, and the principles that guide its organization, software design and implementation.
  • Ensures integration requirements & designs are supported by standard patterns and if required augments them when new patterns emerge
  • Provides guidance, training and mentoring to development teams on architecture and design across various domains.
  • Leverages existing capabilities and participates in the creation and augmentation of new and existing reusable service components and patterns.
  • Ensures that the solution architecture and design align with the Target Architecture for the project
  • Accountable to ensure the solution meets the functional and non-functional requirements approved by the business
  • Accountability for adherence to architecture standards and processes
  • Defines and supports reusable application components from a business and technology perspective
  • Contributor to application development principles and patterns
  • Partners with Enterprise, Application other Lead Architects in driving modular, services-oriented integration and solutions architectures.
  • Ensure Target Architectures are achievable (working with the Application Architect to address any concerns) and is accountable for ensuring that the Solution Architecture and Design can be implemented working along a sequence of events/steps in achieving the Target Architecture

Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or relational functional field) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience
  • 10+ years of programming experience Java, J2EE, Spring boot and Web Services Technologies, SOAP and/or REST). Experience in Java 8 or 11, with Spring Webflux and Reactive is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with designing and building microservices using REST and GraphQL. Experience with API Management in public cloud is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in variety of database technologies, including No SQL (such as MongoDB, Cassandra) and RDBMS (such as ORACLE, SQL Server), including experience with DML, DDL and Query Optimization.
  • 5+ years of experience with systems Integration including building event-based messaging, high-volume real time data streaming using Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spark and ETL integration
  • Hands on experience with technologies like Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure is strongly preferred
  • Hands on experience with In-Memory Datastore/Cache Experience (Redis or MemCache) is strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience with the full software development lifecycle and software development methodologies (Agile, Iterative).
  • Significant experience in capacity planning, systems performance analysis and optimization in a distributed client/server environment, and experience in building Resilient Active/Active strongly preferred.
  • Strong design and programming skills.
  • Strong understanding of patterns and best practices.
  • Strong ability to decompose a broad level business requirement into technical implementation.
  • Ability to mentor and guide development team members.
  • Strong organization skills with good interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Strong understanding of web development.
  • Strong experience building consumer facing solutions
  • Strong experience building applications on the public cloud
  • Deep knowledge of scalability, security and maintainability of high-volume Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate and drive highly complex technology solutions to broad audiences within and outside of IT
  • Ability to define solutions from very high-level business ideas
  • Ability to describe non-functional requirements
  • Ability to work independently and also be highly collaborative across a virtual workforce.
