Job Description
Duties and Essential Job Functions:Express high expectations for students and families
Recognize gaps due to COVID and make recommendations for professional development
Analyze student data (MAP, IA, STAAR, STEP) for students identified with gaps due to COVID with Director of Special Populations
Distill KTX instructional priorities (explicit instruction and universal design for learning) into bite-sized action steps for school based coaches and teachers to drive the work forward.
Provide coaching around academic impact across all grade bands, including GAIN/SEAS classrooms during walk-throughs with Director of Special Populations and/or Academic Team
Identify schools/teachers in need of more hands-on support and offer planning time/office hours for targeted assistance
Cultivate the trust of key stakeholders
Deliver and record model lessons
Provide feedback on lesson plans, lesson delivery, and assessment results
Co-facilitate PD (instructional)
Co-facilitate monthly coach calls
Maintain positive working relationships with other internal departments, and, in the event that problems arise with special education, lead troubleshooting efforts and bring in relevant team members to assist with solutions.
Performs other related job duties and training as assigned.
Bilingual preferred

Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years of experience teaching with a focus on special education services
Knowledge of the 13 eligibility categories under IDEA and how they impact achievement
Knowledge of content standards and assessments
Knowledge of the KTX instructional priorities (Explicit Instruction and Universal Design for Learning)
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree preferred
Previous experience leading/coaching SPED department
Special Education
Ability to go between schools and classrooms
