SQL DBA Location: Southfield, Chicago, Dallas, or Houston (Hybrid) Mode of Interview: Phone + Skype What is unique is the work schedule: For 4 weeks: M - F from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m.(hybrid) Every 5th week: M - Sunday from 4:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.(can work remote that week). Job Description: Every SQL Server DBA is an Engineer. In addition to DBA responsibilities, they should have experience with SQL queries and writing SQL Code. AWS or Azure cloud platform experience is highly preferred. Strong communication skills are a must. ETS Database Senior Administrator, this is a full-time, contract role and reports to the ETS Database & Support Operations Director. Maintain the integrity of databases and applications (as directed) upon which the business units rely on for uninterrupted business operations.
- Run and monitor database and application performance queries; design and implement testing routines to identify and resolve (de-bug) conflicts and potential operating malfunctions, using the Enterprise monitoring solutions and other utilities.
- Optimization of server (on-prem and cloud), database and scripts leveraging knowledge of hardware configuration, database indexing and coding best practices.
- Adhere to and perform against internal SLAs to the business.
- Create and maintain SQL backup policies to meet DR SLAs using a variety of applications and native commands.
- Use Database experience to effectively solve a variety of client tasks along with offering advise on preferred practices.
- Participate in the monthly maintenance cycle as well as the on-call rotation.
- Effectively communicate within the database team to ensure all team members are adequately informed of changes, detected issues, and other items necessary to maintain high levels of user satisfaction. Identifying and communicating any areas of improvement to existing processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions with databases, applications, and related infrastructure; escalate to other technology support resources as needed.
- Schedule, communicate, perform and monitor both regular and ad hoc database maintenance activities in accordance with defined policies and procedures.
- Administer database systems security and assign appropriate access privileges to end-users; monitor security issues and report potential problems and concerns.
- Participate in the creation (or modification) of documentation activities related to system design, configuration, and operation; support policies and compliance procedures.
- Assist in building and optimizing cloud-based solutions using the latest applications and technologies. This role offers scope to move the candidate's career to the next level in learning and implementing Data Engineering practices for use on internal and external projects.

- University degree preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of commercial experience with SQL Server as a DBA.
- Administration of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2017 or above.
- Database performance monitoring, tuning and optimization.
- Advanced T-SQL programming .
- Familiar with SSIS, SSAS cubes & SSRS reports.
- Experience in Cloud Services (e.g., Azure, Amazon).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities effectively, adapt to changing circumstances to meet key deadlines under time constraints so work is completed in an accurate, timely manner
- Experience in a 24x7 service delivery model supporting mission-critical business operations.
