Location: Dallas, TX The Database Manager is responsible for the management and direction of the DBAs and Database Analysts in day to day operations and department leadership. The DBAs look to this position for leadership and guidance through policies and procedures. This position works closely with the Payments, Development,Global Network Services, Storage and Systems department leaders to ensure the global fleet of SQL servers and databases are healthy, sufficiently sized and performant. The Director of Database Administration is looked to as a first responder during incidents and has the capability to perform the tasks of any of the personnel assign to the DBA team.

Education:
  • Post-Secondary Education
  • IT related degree
  • Relevant IT related training/certifications (MCDBA, MCSA, etc.)

Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as a MS SQL Database Administrator
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manager or Director of DBAs
  • Expert in MS SQL Server (2016-2008) feature sets to include OLTP, OLAP,
  • Replication, Partitioning, Version Selection, Deployments, Back up Strategies.
  • Experience in managing other database technologies: MongoDB, Hadoop, Oracle, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in High Volume Transaction Processing environments
  • Payment Transaction industry experience preferred
  • Proven experience motivating teams
  • Experience working with and leading offshore contractor teams; as well as, teams dispersed around the globe.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct department level management of onshore and offshore DBAs and Database Analysts for all aspects: personnel, tasking, mentoring
  • Act as a first responder to incidents
  • Oversee deployment schedules and operations related to databases
  • Manage applications related or not related directly to databases
  • Coordinate with IT leadership, departments and Business users in all operations
  • Actively upgrade, patch, improve database technologies
  • Participate in planning and execution of projects as part of an SDLC
  • Oversee database maintenance for all environments; DEV, QC, UAT and Production
  • Maintain statistics and reporting about SQL servers, databases, and department metrics
  • Enterprise capacity planning
