Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant, based in Galveston, Texas. The primary function of this role is to manage the financial operations of our non-profit organization, ensuring its financial health and transparency. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the month-end close process, performing account reconciliations, supporting annual audits, and handling various special projects.Responsibilities: Leading the month-end closing process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and financial statements to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Coordinating and preparing for annual audits, including gathering necessary documentation and working closely with external auditors. Assisting with special projects as needed, including financial analysis, process improvements, and system implementations. Ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and any regulatory requirements. Utilizing ERP systems to manage financial data, generate reports, and improve efficiency in accounting processes. Assisting in system upgrades and optimizations. Working closely with other departments to support financial decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Processing customer credit applications accurately and efficiently. Maintaining accurate customer credit records. Monitoring customer accounts and taking appropriate action. Requirements Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Sr. Accountant Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Bank Reconciliations Demonstrated experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries Proficient in Microsoft Excel Experience with Month End Close and Month-end Close Activities Ability to prepare Financial Statements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must have the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proven knowledge of financial analysis and interpretation of financial data Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
