Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team located on the East side of Houston! This role primarily involves handling financial reporting, tax record keeping, month-end closing, and providing support for accounts receivable and payable tasks. The Staff Accountant will be vital in maintaining our financial integrity by ensuring accuracy and compliance in our financial operations. Responsibilities: Monitor and record capitalized interest on construction-in-progress Handle accounting for right-of-use assets and capital leases File sales and franchise tax for multiple states and localities in various frequencies Perform and enter journal entries for period-end close functions Reconcile bank accounts and update foreign currency exchange rates Maintain corporate vehicle programs including vehicle mileage and registration for leased vehicles Support accounts receivable tasks including daily order handling, invoice correction, and processing new customer accounts Offer backup support for accounts payable tasks such as posting supplier invoices and payments, and reconciling and posting of petty cash accounts Ensure compliance with 1099 reporting requirements, including timely issuance and accurate filing of 1099 forms for applicable vendors Record fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions, and depreciation expense Prepare and update account analysis and various reports.Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations Experience with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger maintenance Skilled in creating and managing Journal Entries Familiarity with Month End Close procedures Knowledge of SAP software for accounting tasks Experience in Fixed Asset Accounting and Lease Accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficient with financial reporting and financial statement preparation Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously High ethical standards and professionalism, as it relates to handling confidential and sensitive information Commitment to continuous learning and development in accounting regulations and standards Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
