Datacom Tech 3 – $26 to $32

Ability to give direction to small numbers of crew members (i.e., the lead may task a T3 to run small crew on a particular floor of a building or a specific aspect of the project)

Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders:

 Communication with Telco Data PM on manpower and material needs

 Communication with clients/customers

Proven industry knowledge through certifications including but not limited to:

 SYSTIMAX I&M

 Corning See the Light Trainings

 BICSI Installer or BICSI Tech

Mid to high-level understanding of copper and fiber products and their installation methods

 Installation of Category Cabling

 Installation of Coaxial cabling

 Installation of Fiber cabling

Ability to terminate most standard industry connectors including but not limited to:

 SYSTIMAX

 Panduit Mini-Com and Netkey

 Leviton

Mid-to-high-level understanding of bonding and grounding systems, including but not limited to:

 Ability to install all aspects of bonding and grounding for telecom systems.

 Ability to locate incorrect installation techniques through visual inspection.

High level of understanding of firestopping principles as it pertains to telecom pathways.

OSHA 30

Entry to mid-level understanding of fiber optic principles and termination techniques, including but not limited to:

 Mechanical Splicing

 Fusion Splicing

 Connectors

Communicate Clearly with other trades the needs and challenges relating to our scope.

Understanding what is or is not in our scope of work on the assigned project.

Ability to identify risks and challenges ahead of time.

Knowing what material is needed to complete the project.

Ability to direct and train lower-level technicians.

Understanding the definition of a complete project

 All devices installed and tested.

 Customer training

 Panel neatly dressed and all cables labeled.

Ability to understand and complete job specific paperwork.

 JSA

 Safety reports

 Weekly progress reports

 As built drawing.

 Effective and professional email

Basic understanding of Plan Grid and related jobsite software

Complete understanding of blueprints and related architectural symbols
