The General Surgical Officer responsible for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients at DOS/DOD clinics. The General Surgical Officer will supervise and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient management. The incumbent will be performing life-saving surgery for a full range of general emergency surgical cases, including vascular, neurologic, and orthopedic; and full-range of general surgical cases, including abdominal, urologic, vascular, and soft-tissue.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the surgical team and conduct thorough preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention. Perform a variety of surgical procedures, such as appendectomies, hernia repairs, bowel resections, and more, using appropriate techniques and ensuring patient safety. Monitor patients during recovery, addressing complications, and providing follow-up care instructions to promote healing and complications. Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, potential risks, and postoperative care requirements. Work closely with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other medical professionals to coordinate surgical care and ensure optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate medical records, including operation notes and patient progress reports, in compliance with regulatory standards.
