Odyssey is working with a Texas-based home building company to hire an experienced Systems Engineer. This role will be mostly remote but we are looking for someone ideally around the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio areas. OBJECTIVE:This position supports the company's Infrastructure, regional offices, sales models, data centers (both on-premise and cloud ecosystems), and is responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks, including physical networks, servers, operating systems, firewalls, Internet connectivity, virtualization, business applications, and information data security. This position will install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve Highland's operating environment; maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the Infrastructure; monitor the operating environments, respond to incidents and problems, and plan for growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Server Management• Support all current server hardware, software, cloud, and virtualization platforms both locally and in an offsite datacenter. Support all existing server software, including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, VMware vCenter/vSphere, and Amazon Web Services.• Maintain user accounts, e-mail addresses, & folder permissions in Active Directory.• Monitor and administer recurring backup tasks to ensure all data is adequately protected and recoverable (including all SQL databases).• Perform user adds, moves, and changes on the Office phone system.• Manage infrastructure-related system integrations such as Federation Services and SSO.• Manage on-premises and cloud file and print services.• Manage storage and backup systems and architecture.

Desktop/Mobile Administration• Create and manage Active Directory group policies to support a consistent desktop/laptop environment.• Create packages/scripts to automate the deployment of software applications and updates.• Support desktop applications, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.• Ensure all systems are current with applicable security patches and anti-virus updates.• Support remote connectivity to all internal and cloud-hosted resources.• Respond to incoming Regional and Sales Office support desk tickets from users needing assistance with hardware and software.• Follow all support issues to full resolution, providing after-hours support where appropriate.

RESULTS EXPECTED:• Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the company’s systems architecture and platforms.• Develops and maintains documentation of system policies, procedures, and configurations.• Provide quality work according to Highland Homes Core Values & Guiding Principles

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in MIS or other related technical field preferred, or 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required• Network architecture design and implementation preferred• In-depth knowledge of network and system security (including vulnerabilities and exploits) stronglypreferred:-Firewalls, IPS\IDS, penetration testing-Internal and external vulnerability scanning and remediation-Security monitoring, analysis, and collection tools• Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012+ Active Directory and Group Policies required.• Demonstrated Windows performance tuning and troubleshooting skills required.• Windows Server Administration and Active Directory, SQL, and IIS technologies required.• In-depth experience with Microsoft Office 365 is required.• Windows networking with Microsoft Windows 7/10 and Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 required.• Experience with Windows PowerShell scripting to automate tasks.• System deployment life cycle and change management methodologies required.• General Internet concepts knowledge (Web, DNS, SMTP, FTP, Search engines) required.• Networking (TCP/IP, IP addressing) and Telecommunications experience required.• Supporting various mobile operating systems (iOS, Android) required.• Manage imaging technologies for system deployment required.• Experience with remote access technologies (Remote Desktop Services, VDI, and/or Citrix) required.• Manage Network security concepts (Patch Management, Anti-Virus, Spyware) required.• Must be able to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade computers independently.• Must be able to install and upgrade applications and software as required independently.• General knowledge of accounting, payroll, financial, and HRIS systems preferred.
