Job Title: Systems Engineer - Hardware Design/Rack Build

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid Role - 2-3 days in office)

Job Type: Contract (6 months)

Pay $75-100/hr.

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with experience in hardware system design and rack build experience to join our growing organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing architecture at the system level, understanding the risks and challenges associated with developing complex systems while considering power planes and other safety considerations. The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for managing the Bill of Materials (BOM) of 100+ components, troubleshooting custom systems, and providing guidance to the technician/build team during tester builds and bringups.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop system-level architecture for complex electronics systems, including rack builds, while considering power planes and other safety considerations.
  • Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for 100+ components, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking.
  • Troubleshoot custom systems and provide guidance to the technician/build team during tester builds and bringups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and firmware engineers, to ensure successful integration and performance of the overall system.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to hardware system design.
  • Participate in design reviews, provide technical expertise, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the product development process.
  • Collaborate with customers and vendors to understand their requirements and provide technical support as needed.

Requirements:

  • BS/MS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in hardware system design and rack build experience.
  • Strong understanding of system-level architecture, power planes, and safety considerations in developing complex systems.
  • Experience managing BOM.
  • Ability to troubleshoot custom systems and provide guidance to the technician/build team during tester builds and bringups.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to hardware design.
