Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a Senior Manager, Systems Engineering, who is a technical leader and contributor to organizational goals. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the applicant’s duties will include performing as part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems. Essential Functions:
Responsible for leading a diverse team of technical subject matter experts.
Recommend tactics and strategies that will directly impact the achievement of overall business or functional results.
Develop or champion new systems, concepts, or technologies.
Responsible for determining staffing requirements and adjusting staffing levels as necessary to ensure that the department’s workforce is appropriately staffed with qualified individuals
Provide direction and training to engineers and ensure compliance with department standards and policies
Perform annual departmental performance appraisal reviews
Provide job status to management and coordinate department activities with other departments.
Support marketing activities and proposal preparation.
Support generation of labor and material cost estimates for new projects based on assigned and available resources.
Responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and scheduling of engineering activities throughout multiple projects.
Coordinate activities of the systems engineering function to meet the overall objectives of the business.
Provide technical system integration guidance to scrum teams, including to subcontractors.
Advocate for process improvement and a proven, effective change agent in a cross-functional and matrixed organization.
Advocate for continuous learning and provides development through training, cross-training and mentoring.
Support sector and segment System Engineering in process improvement, performance and quality metrics, training, and initiative rollout.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 yrs of prior related experience. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Experience working in a broad management/leadership role leading cross-department project teams or manage across the function. (Typically has mastery within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas)
Previous hands-on development, design, and analysis with system capabilities and requirements development experience on a DoD, Cloud, distributed systems, or ISR program
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US DOD Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience doing the analysis of customer requirements, including system and sub-system trade studies
IRAD and Technical Baseline development/management
Experience with agile software development process, especially Scrum
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Active Secret Clearance, preferably TS/SCI
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), especially working with engineering teams, senior management, and customers
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
