Currently we are seeking for a Technical Writer role with our direct client in Austin, TX for a remote. Cybersecurity Operations team is looking for an experienced Technical Writer to draft cybersecurity policies, standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, workflows, MOU’s, governance documentation and to set up a documentation repository for ease of access to all team members. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing policy, standards, MOU’s, training guides and other technical materials as needed. To be successful, the Technical Writer must be able to work under limited supervision and initiate and engage with individual resources on the team. She/He will lead the discussions necessary to establish the required documentation needed for our programs. The Writer must be able to communicate effectively, be self-motivated and well-organized, and thrive in a collaborative environment. Most importantly, their colleagues trust they captured everything necessary for the long-term success of the programs.

Responsibilities:Consults with subject matter experts to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.Interviews personnel and reads journals and other materials to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.Observes production and developmental activities and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.Studies drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence.Edits, standardizes, or makes changes to prepared material.Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate written materials.Develops workflows as necessary to include in written material.Maintains records and files of work and revisions.Develops Microsoft SharePoint environment for storing documentation.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience with cybersecurity focused materials and standard frameworks such as NIST.
  • Experience with document content standardization.
  • Experience with report writing, SOPs, SLAs, MOUs, Knowledge Articles
  • Experience developing and supporting Microsoft SharePoint environments and MS Team environments.
  • Experience developing workflows and system diagrams.
  • Experience with governance development and documentation a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and O365 a plus.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of methods of literary research.
  • Knowledge of printing and production of technical materials.
  • Skill in oral and written communication to include presentation skills.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Skill in business analysis.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to interpret technical reports and specifications
  • Ability to proofread or edit technical materials.
  • Ability to organize materials into formats suitable for printing.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
