The primary purpose of the Behavioral Science Tobacco Cessation Quit Coach position is to promote smoking cessation services on Behavioral Science research and service projects, through a collaborative process of assessment, implementation and evaluation through counseling.JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESBehavioral and Motivational Counseling Provide brief quitting advice to participants on research protocols. May work across multiple protocols based on caseload and recruitment needs. Utilize the principles of Motivational Interviewing to assess motivation to change smoking behavior and implement appropriate behavioral strategies to assist with behavior change. Collect and record relevant data. Consult with Mental Health Providers as needed for crisis related situation.Data Entry Perform data entry procedures according to quality assurance protocols. Maintain appropriate documentation following project and institutional requirements for research source documentation. Enter data and progress notes within project specific timeframes. Participate in self audits as needed.​​​​​​​ Communication/planning Demonstrates proficiency in communications skills by consistently delivering excellent customer service and by demonstrating an ability to establish productive professional relationships with all stakeholders. Demonstrates an ability to discern urgent issues and correctly identifies the supervisory staff that should be informed.Other Other duties as assignedEDUCATION:Required: High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Psychology.EXPERIENCE:Required: Four years of experience in a call center, health education, smoking cessation, health care, coaching, counseling, or wellness.
