You will be part of our growing Kiewit Industrial team that is developing client solutions that seamlessly transition from design plans to completed projects to exceed client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence. Specific submarkets within F&B that are targeted are: Meat, Beef and Poultry (MBP); Baked, Frozen and Prepared Goods (BFP), including Pet Food; and Alternative Proteins.The VP of F&B Engineering will provide technical and process engineering leadership for primarily design-build and/or EPC projects and pursuits, with occasional engineering only projects. Remote work locations will be fairly considered but may require increased travel.ResponsibilitiesThe VP – F&B Engineering will help grow Kiewit’s market share by winning clients and projects in partnership with Business Development leaders, developing the process team and their capabilities, and developing and executing innovative solutions to clients’ technical needs on an ongoing basis through the process team this role manages. As the business grows, so will the responsibilities and complexities of leading a larger team, building organizational capability, and ensuring ongoing project execution success which may ultimately lead to increased overall business responsibilities and participation in the business as an owner through outstanding performance.Specifically, the VP – F&B Engineering will: Develop the vision for engineering success for the F&B market and own the outcomes of this overall engineering strategy. This includes providing technical and engineering leadership for process design including process evaluation, process selection, and process optimization. Support business development specific to F&B. Network and build successful industry relationships internally and externally. Continuously monitor and understand market conditions, trends, and advances in technology across the F&B market. Establish strategic engineering priorities for the F&B market, supported by the overall KIG market strategy. Build and manage a team of engineering experts and process engineers for the F&B market to execute project process design throughout the project life cycle. This may include identification and recruitment of key subject matter expertise externally as well as relationships with specific 3rd party consultants where needed to support optimal project outcomes. Coordinate teams and resources to support process design for multiple projects simultaneously. Oversee in the preparation of key engineering reports, engineering drawings and specifications for projects such as basis of design, PFD’s, P&ID’s, mass and energy balances, process simulations, datasheets, and engineering calculations. Provide process expertise leadership during project pursuit and execution to identify and eliminate technical risks. This may include conducting cold eyes reviews of project process design documents to identify gaps or issues. Working collaboratively with the Project Development group and the Industrial Engineering team, contribute to the development of client proposals, execution plans, and project cost estimates within the F&B market. Actively participate in professional organizations. Prepare and make presentations to clients and professional organizations. Identify and lead the development of market-specific engineering standards, resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency. Mentor Kiewit’s entry and mid-level engineers for skill development. Review their progress and results. Provide direction and coaching, as needed. When escalated, provide front line issue resolution of technical issues associated with design, construction, equipment and/or operations.Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Agricultural, Biosystems or Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 15+ years of experience process development, conceptual and detailed design of food and beverage facilities. Experience emphasis in focus submarkets identified above is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred. Experience as process design engineering lead on design-build projects is preferred. Must be willing and available to accommodate intermittent travel (up to 50% maximum expected) Preferred experience utilizing process modeling and simulation software applications such as Aspen Plus and/or HYSYS or equal. Previous experience serving in a management and/or technical role with industry in corporate and/or commercial facilities.
