DescriptionThe Welder is responsible for cutting, shaping, and joining metal components to create a variety of products. This position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret blue prints, and a strong knowledge of welding techniques.Duties:
Welds all types of steel skids and structures using drawings, specifications and industry standards.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
Proper Identification of materials and component preparation.
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Ensure the proper weld procedure, type of material and rod size are accurately assessed for reach welding project.
Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws by visually.
Performs quality checks on completed products.
Performs routine maintenance on welding equipment.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment by wearing relevant PPE according to safety protection requirements, following procedures and rules, and completing training.
All other duties assigned by management.
QualificationsSKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
Previous experience as a Welder or in a similarly role is highly preferred.
Must be able to read a blueprint.
Must be familiar with Safety and OSHA requirements within a welding environment.
Basic mathematics: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
Excellent problem-solving skills to address welding challenges and ensure quality welds.
Must be able to pass weld qualification test. Weld test(s) administered will be specific to the project currently being staffed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds or more.
Must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
Must be able to stand or walk on feet for long periods of time.
Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
Good hand/eye coordination.
Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
