As the Fluids Subject Matter Expert in a diverse cross-functional team you are expected to provide technical and commercial insights and influence Wells Engineers, Operational Supervisors and Wells Leadership alike.The successful candidate has experience as a practitioner of drilling fluids, reservoir drill-in fluids, completion fluids and brines, solids control and waste management. Hands-on experience in the field as well as experience in planning and executing fluid-related projects is preferred.What will you do

Operations Support

ExxonMobil drills some of the most challenging wells all across the world. As the fluids expert you will be flexible to provide real-time support 24 hrs. as necessary and provide insightful, practical fluids advice that balances the risks and benefits to the operations. You communicate easily with operations, other subject matter experts and service partners and use the information on hand to help troubleshoot and make thoughtful recommendations.

Planning Support

The implementation of a drilling fluids starts with engineering and planning of a fit-for-purpose fluid. ExxonMobil operates on land in unconventional and conventional drilling, Deepwater, and carbon storage. You are comfortable providing engineering support in these applications, you enjoy the technical challenge as well as every-day fluids applications. You are able to provide input and influence in fluid selection and engineering during planning.

Innovation

You are proficient in established fluid technologies, and you have experience to weigh the technical and commercial advantages and disadvantages of new technologies. You inspire service partners to develop innovative solutions, you are able to evaluate new technologies and provide support in their trial and implementation.

Multi-Disciplinary Contributions

As the fluids expert, you provide insights and advise on cross-disciplinary topics. Borehole stability and cementing are just a few examples of other disciplines that interact with the drilling fluid. You will work with the leading experts in various fields to find optimized solutions that provide the best solution for drilling and completion.Drilling fluid technical performance are important, and increased attention in environmental performance and sustainability require balanced solutions. You will be called to provide insights into environmental solutions for fluids, solids control and waste management.

Training and mentoring employees

As the expert in drilling- and completion fluids, solids control and waste management you will provide training and mentorship to emerging and advanced Wells Engineers. Through training and mentorship, you provide them with the tools and confidence to design and execute challenging wells.

External Engagement

You are an industry leader and engage externally through active committee and conference participation.Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in science, engineering, or technology

Minimum 10 years experience in Drilling- and Completion Fluids

Experience as Fluid Project Engineer or Technical Advisor. Demonstrated experience communicating drilling fluid technical information to operations and engineering, including complex technical information into actionable procedures

High level of personal and professional integrity. Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, able to manage self and lead others in a diverse work environment

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to adapt communication style between leading onsite team to relaying technical information to office-based team

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

Working knowledge of laboratory testing and procedures, including designing procedures, and analyzing results

Working knowledge of reservoir drill-in fluids and completion brines

Working knowledge of solids control and waste management related to drilling and completion fluids
