Component Research MESO Graduate Intern

12 Mar 2025

Vacancy expired!

Job DescriptionResponsibilities may be quite diverse of a nonexempt technical nature.U.S. experience and education requirements will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the job.Job assignments are usually for the summer or for short periods during breaks from school. This is an internship and compensation will be given accordingly based on candidate education level and internship duration.Magnetoelectric spin orbit (MESO) is an ultra-energy efficient beyond CMOS logic device invented at Intel.Writing the logic state into this device is based on voltage driven magnetization switching with multiferroic materials and the readout of the logic state is based on spin to charge conversion in materials with large spin-orbit coupling. The responsibilities of the intern are:

Improve and develop the existing spintronic measurement capabilities.

Perform electrical measurements on MESO device and analyze data.

Spintronic test set up development:

Develop lockin and/or nano-voltmeter based low noise spintronic measurements with a GMW.

Axis magnetic field set up.

Integrate DC and pulsed voltage control into the low noise measurement for real time voltage driven magnetization switching experiments.

Experiments on voltage driven magnetization switching and detection:

Measure and analyze ferroelectric polarization vs. voltage for multiferroic materials with different stack configurations and provide feedback to growth.

Perform voltage driven magnetization switching measurements, with magnetization read out through effects such as inverse spin Hall effect, anomalous Hall effect, planar Hall effect, etc.

This internship has a 3 month duration with the possibility to extend it as per business needs.QualificationsThis position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship. You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.Minimum Qualifications:

Must be pursuing a Ph.D. Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science with 1+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of experiencein electrical data acquisition, data acquisition programming, data analysis, and electrical testing of spintronics devices.

Familiar with magnetic, spin-orbit, and ferroelectric materials.
