This at-will position designs and manages the desktop system's hardware and software environment. The Desktop Specialist's role is to optimize the customer's operating system and technology work environment to achieve high availability and increased performance. The job will entail lowering support costs, increasing usability of the various business applications supported at the desktop, while providing a world-class customer experience. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning laptop hardware, Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, drivers, software patches and system applications in a timely and efficient manner. Adheres to company core values and mission.

Your role:

  • Image and configure Windows and Mac OS X systems using SCCM, InTune and JAMF management tools
  • Participate in the design and review of Windows operating systems and Windows application deployments on the workstations.
  • Ensure that CHG's workstations and installed software applications comply with established security policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
  • Review and deploy new Windows service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.
  • Develop and maintain systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff. Provide regular contributions to team knowledge base.
  • Deploy and maintain workstation hardware and software, utilizing automation wherever possible.
  • Manage and deploy enterprise software licenses as needed across company.
  • Perform equipment moves including desktop computers, printers and scanners (40+ pounds).
  • Perform routine printer and scanner maintenance.
  • Perform routine data-cabling in network feed closets, and maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
  • Resolve client's PC equipment failures and hardware-related problems.
  • Provide telecommunications support, including variety of end-user mobile devices.
  • Enter and process work orders through ticketing system. Provide timely communication to customers and adhere to service-level agreements.
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Provide audio/visual support for video conference and other company functions.
  • Support technology installations within modular furniture and private offices.
  • Provide world-class customer service and develop relationships with customers at all levels of the company.
  • Identify and establish personal development goals in line with the company core values.

Your qualifications:

  • Excellent customer relations skills, in-person, virtually, or via phone/text.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with colleagues and customers at all levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to think critically in order to produce creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and take swift corrective action to solve the problem
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively with other team members, project and IT partners (e.g. Operations, Service Desk, Application Support, Product, Digital teams, etc.)
  • Ability to mentor, be mentored, and partner with peers
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet project timelines
  • Advanced knowledge of PC, mobile devices, scanning and printer hardware.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Mac OS X operating systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Prioritize and manage time and requests efficiently
  • Able to take direction as well as work independently or in team setting
  • Must be able to lift 40-60 lbs
Education & Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science (or relative work experience)
  • 2-4 years of customer service and computer-based experience
