Please note that our internships run in perpetuity throughout a student's degree program, therefore you must live within commuting distance to our Provo office year-round. (Currently, the position is remote due to the pandemic, but that may change.) The hours vary depending on school schedule and are full time when classes are not in session. You must be enrolled in a degree program to be eligible for a Micro Focus internship.

Micro Focus is seeking a talented and motivated individual to assume the role of DevOps engineering intern in the Identity and Access Management Engineering Department. We are looking for people with the right blend of skills, education, experience, and attitude to fill this exciting and challenging position. This is a great opportunity for the individual looking to get involved with cutting-edge technology in the Cloud Computing space, and the Identity and Access business.

The successful candidate will gain experience as a systems integrator working closely with software development, quality assurance, and information technology groups in the cloud services lifecycle. They will be required to collaborate and possess a willingness to ask questions, along with having excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to focus on problem resolution through completion.

Responsibilities:
  • Help to Integrate, deploy, and manage cloud services, including host operating systems and software
  • Assist with Analyzing performance of cloud services and with diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Organize and prioritize work, enter and track defects, complete work in accordance with plans

Education and Experience Required:
  • Working on bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Programming skills in Java, Python or other high-level language(s) along with scripting languages (e.g. bash, perl)
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, Hyper-V)
  • Basic knowledge of Containerization and Microservices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of Linux administration a plus
  • Experience setting up test environments and automating integration testing
  • Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal English)
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment
  • Experience with SCRUM or other Agile development processes a plus
