AECOM seeks an Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Analysis specializing in power system studies for grid-interconnected and islanded power generation projects. This includes being a part of the first-of-a-kind program with AECOM partners advancing the innovative stellarator technology to the world.https://aecom.com/press-releases/aecom-establishes-partnership-with-type-one-energy-to-provide-design-engineering-services-for-its-innovative-stellarator-fusion-power-plant-infinity-two/For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and extensive experience in electrical engineering, controls design, and power generation projects.The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:Responsible for the electrical engineering design work on assigned projectsServe as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable developmentCoordination with the electrical design team to direct completion of engineering drawings (one-line diagrams, protection & control schemes, settings files, and metering/SCADA integration requirements)Perform steady-state and dynamic analyses, including load flow, short-circuit, contingency analysis, transient stability, frequency response, voltage stability, and motor starting.Conduct protection and coordination studies, relay settings, arc flash assessments, and grounding studies in compliance with applicable standards.Support interconnection applications including generator and inverter-based resourcesExecute islanded and microgrid analyses (black start, droop control, power-sharing, stability, protection, and resilience strategies).Develop and validate models (PSSE/PSLF/DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD) and prepare comprehensive study reports and presentations.Evaluate and optimize solutions for renewables, battery energy storage, CHP, and conventional generation projects.Home office and field support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioningPerforms quality control reviews of work developed by othersCollaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, controls, civil/structural, and construction) to integrate study results into design packages.Participate in project and client meetingsInteract with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractorsAssist with internal and external presentationsOccasional travel to client and/or project sitesDCS—EnergyAECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients.
