Histology Technician or Technologist

Receives and accurately processes surgical or diagnostic tissue specimens from various hospital departments and

physician offices. Accurately prepares histological slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Pathologist. Identifies, prepares, cuts, stains and preserves specimens in such a manner to assist the Pathologist to render a reliable diagnosis. Maintains Pathology Laboratory equipment and supplies. Performs backup for general office duties, and maintains accurate files. Demonstrates support of the Medical Center’s mission, values and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors through use of STAR keywords: Service, Teamwork, Accountability/Attitude, Responsiveness.

Requirements:

Histological Technician training at a certified training program/healthcare careers college.

Current Histologic Technician or Technologist registration.

Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Basic computer knowledge and word processing skills.

Preferred:

One year related experience

HT(ASCP), or HTL(ASCP) certification, or certification eligible
