Position Summary

Assists physicians with necessary services needed to care for their patients. Supports staff with routine duties and patient care services. Functions in front and back offices orspecializes in certain specificresponsibilities.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Provides general aspects of basic patient care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously within the MAs scope of practice.

Prepares patient's chart and determines completeness. Adds information, dictation, and test results as needed. Utilizes computer system to print letters, forms, and requests for tests.

Coordinateseffortswithreceptionistwithregardtopatientpre-certificationforservicesfromthirdpartypayers. Logs patient results asrequiredTracks patient progress.Cleans and sterilizes office equipment as needed and prepares instruments for autoclave as necessary. Sets up examination rooms and procedure rooms for proper patient care and delivery of services.Chaperones and assists physician with patients as appropriate or needed.Performs procedures, tests, specimen collection as directed by physician and within scope of the MAs scope of practice.Stocks and restocks examination rooms and office lab with needed supplies and medications. Orders and inventories supplies as required.Completesathoroughandeffectivepre-examinationinterviewwithpatient.ReportstophysicianorRegisteredNurse. Maintains proper communication with patients concerning any follow-up careor information.

Prepares all lab specimens for proper testing.

Communicates with pharmacists as needed to convey patient prescription information. Assists in the effective and efficient operation of the medical practice.

Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected. Releases information in accordance with established policies.
