POSITION PURPOSE:Installs, configures, upgrades, patches, troubleshoots, and monitors service bus middleware messaging and application server environments. Maintains middleware messaging and application servers for integrity, security, performance, load balancing, and capacity planning. Participates in planning, implementing, and testing messaging and application server infrastructure business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Supports web service and application developers throughout the software development lifecycle. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with staff and management, and vendors. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish objectives. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision – typically reports directly to a manager. This is a hybrid-work position based in Riverdale, Utah.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:1. Installs, configures, upgrades, patches, troubleshoots, and monitors service bus middleware messaging and application server environments.a . Installs and configures middleware messaging and application servers on mainframe and distributed computing environments.b. Maintains middleware messaging and application servers within supported version/releases levels.c. Identifies, troubleshoots, and recovers from middleware messaging and application server downtime events.d. Monitors real-time health and log files of middleware messaging and application server environments.2. Maintains middleware messaging and application servers for integrity, security, performance, load balancing, and capacity planning purposes.a . Performs webservice and application server deployments.b. Installs encryption certificates.c. Designs and implements secure messaging transaction flows.d. Designs and implements secure messaging administration interfaces.e. Participates in load/stress tests and scales messaging and application server infrastructure to meet performance requirements.f. Tunes middleware messaging and application servers for optimal performance.g. Documents design of middleware messaging and applica tion server architecture and infrastructure.3. Participates in planning, implementing, and testing messaging and application infrastructure business continuity and disaster recovery plans.a . Architects enterprise service bus for non-disruptive webservice and application deployments.b. Architects enterprise service bus for high availability and disaster recovery resiliency.c. Participates in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.d. Ensures data ba ckups are archived and recoverable.4. Supports webservice and application developers throughout the software development lifecycle.a . Promptly responds to developer and user requests.b. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a range of application server vendors and products including the J2EE framework.c. Ensures compliance with Change Management process.d. Responsible for proper and timely messaging and application server deployments within the service-oriented architecture.5. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communications, coordination, and working relations with staff, management, and vendors.a . Keeps management informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives. Provides recom mendations to establish new and more effective systems and future equipment needs. Suggests systems-related procedures and changes.b. Assists and supports IS&T Division personnel as needed.c. Prepares reports of system activities, creates operational procedures, and produces diagrams of messaging and application server design.d. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required .e. Acts as technical liaison between vendors and credit union staff and management.QUALIFICATIONS:Training/Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline or a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Required Knowledge:- Understanding of credit union operations and information needs- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, a nd procedures within information technology industry- Knowledge of business software applicationsExperience Required:- 8+ year’s work experience in systems administration and middleware software management- IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Integration Bus, App Connect Enterprise, WebSphere MQ, and Websphere Application Server administration- Unix/Linux administration- Windows administration- z/OS administration- Middleware software development lifecycle management- Understanding of J2EE application model (ie. EJB’s, JSP, HTTP sessions, servlets, etc.)- Understanding of basic Internet concepts (ie. TCP/IP, SSL, HTTP, web browsers, fire walls)- Understanding of standard markup languages such as XML and HTML- Basic knowledge of Web services (ie. SOAP, WSDL, etc.)Skills/Abilities:- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills- Well-organized- Good communication skills- Ability to assist others- Ability to use PC and terminal keyboards, various computer hardware- Flexible, responsive, and work effectively under pressure- Self-motivated
