Job Description:This is an analytic supervisory position focused on both leading a small Data Analyst team while continuing to deliver direct analytic support to leadership and stakeholders within their defined business or clinical organization accountability. This position works with data sources serving the needs of customers in one or more areas within the Intermountain Healthcare organization. The Data Analyst Team Supervisor is the primary business relationship manager to one or multiple stakeholders, ensuring projects are correctly prioritized, resourced, and delivered on time.SupervisoryAccountable to plan and manage the daily operations within the parameters of their departmental operating and capital budgets.Responsible for directing the work of employees for area of accountability, including staffing, goal setting, coaching and mentoring, employee recognition and training, and performance management which includes addressing performance concerns through corrective action.Manages customer, stakeholder, and vendor relationships and expectations. Focuses on solutions and strategies that create win / win situations both inside and outside of the analytic organization.Regularly communicates with staff through huddles, team meetings, individual one on one meetings, check-ins, rounding and skip level interviews as appropriate, and manages resource allocation to projects to ensure timely delivery within budget and according to requirements.Participates as a member of the Analytic Leadership Committee (ALC) and consistently contributes as a leader to EAS work teams and the achievement of Analytic team KPIs.AnalyticThis position is responsible for providing analytical support - typically at a system-wide level. May work as part of a system-wide team or interact with stakeholders across the system. Typically, this position performs analysis on highly complex projects under general or no supervision.Core Essentials:Creates reports that answer multiple related questions as well as reports with linked content, drilldown, and nested parameters. The report is formatted in such a way that leads the user through the report in a well-organized, easy to understand fashion.

Writes more advanced SQL including some query tuning and complex joins (e.g., outer joins on multiple tables). Uses sub-queries and the With Statement as well as more complex functions (e.g., Substr, ToDate, date calculations, etc.).

Assists in the identification of data quality (accuracy, completeness, etc.) issues. Assists with the process of database design for assigned projects. As appropriate, trains other individuals and teams in the routine use of data collection, analysis, and reporting and interpretation tools for measuring performance.

Uses standard Intermountain Reporting tools to generate reports for end users that interpret data for others to promote evidence-based decision making.

Provides project management / project leadership as appropriate to drive timelines and deliverables.

Responsible to document work / projects per enterprise-wide standards (reports, project tracking, databases, etc.).

Provides consultation, data analysis and project management for clinical and business stakeholders across the organization. Communicates technical / analytical concepts to others.

Physical Requirements:Minimum RequirementsMust meet one of the following:A Master's Degree and three years of analytics experience.

OrA Bachelor's Degree with five years of analytics experience.

Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Plus:Demonstrated proficiency and an advanced working knowledge of SQL (structured query language), quality improvement principles, and a solid knowledge of database design principles.

Demonstrated experience in developing, analyzing, interpreting, and managing a variety of complex data sets.

Demonstrated capabilities in planning, participating, and managing a variety of complex analytics projects.

Demonstrated strong proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail, and scheduling applications.

Demonstrated experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Solid experience using industry standard BI, statistical, or analytical tools and technologies.

Demonstrated applied understanding of data visualization design best practices.

Preferred QualificationsDegree in an analytics-related field such as statistics, mathematics, information systems, computer science, finance, economics, or an MBA with an emphasis in analytics.

If degree is not in an analytics related field seven years of analytics experience demonstrating proficiency performing the job essentials at this job level.

Proficiency using statistical methods and tools.

Proficiency using programming languages and tools.

Experience presenting to a variety of audiences and coaching leaders, customers and peers on data analysis best practices, trends, tools, and techniques.

Strong experience with SQL query tuning.

General experience in healthcare or subject matter expertise in the job area (such as Actuarial, Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, Compliance, Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, Management Engineering, Quality, Revenue Cycle, Select Health / Insurance, Strategic Planning, Costing, Chargemaster, Budgeting, etc.).
