As a QA contractor, the candidate will help maximize the success of our patrons and the Family History Department by identifying, communicating, and minimizing risk through test planning and test execution activities related to this project. For the duration of their contract, they will participate in Iteration Planning, Retrospectives, Iteration Reviews and daily Stand-up meetings to report on progress and concerns. For all delivered project features, they will complete exploratory, functional, integration, and system level testing; write automated acceptance tests; identify and report defects in code, architecture, design, and requirements; and validate resolved defects. They will track all work using our internal tools (e.g., VersionOne). They complete additional work related to the project as identified during project iterations.This contract position is a professional, intermediate-level role that usually works with supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual matters. Under supervision, the incumbent conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements.Deliverables are to create automated acceptance tests to support the Standards/Authorities/Place tool team.
- Upgrade Precision and Recall automated acceptance test to improve search results for Places service.
- Create acceptance test for Place, Name Segments, Name, and CV backend services.
- The QAE 2’s role will test and identify risks to the success of these projects
- Their work mirrors the Development work of the software development engineers
- Create automated scripts for Place tools truth tables.
- Create acceptance level test for Date service support tests.
- Writes areas of test automation code
- Participates in all decisions concerning project scope, direction, readiness, architecture, etc.
- Creates test data files/models with valid and invalid records to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow
- Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and commitment to projects
- Executes the vision, direction, and discipline of Quality Assurance within the team
- Provides timely Quality Assurance metrics on a weekly basis
- Assesses risk and tests for robustness and functionality in a Continuous Delivery model
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of the applicable technical systems and functions
- Knowledge and experience with Machine Learning and Data Science activities
- Experience in testing products in an Agile development life cycle
- Verifiable knowledge of the applicable technical systems and functions

- To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment
- Experience testing cloud-based applications in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery in a service-oriented architecture
- Experience in testing systems for scalability, fault tolerance, load, and other operational areas for a data center-based service is beneficial
- Write automated acceptance tests for front-end (selenium or similar tool experience a plus)
- Write automated acceptance tests in Java for back-end RESTful service (Jersey REST client library, REST-assured)
