Job Description:The OR Tech performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management.Opportunities within Surgical ServicesSurgical Operations offers Surgical Technologist (ST) positions across all facilities and in every geography. Interested candidates may post their application for the overall range of units but if desired, can elect to work in their single facility of choice. The surgical operations environment is team-oriented with multi-disciplinary groups including surgeons, gastroenterologists, dentists, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, orderlies and nurses. The surgical technologist is a central team member in these diverse teams and has many different levels of colleagues to lean on and collaborate to provide the patient with a safe and extraordinary experience.Care of the patient in surgery is a complex yet intriguing environment. Many of our facilities offer general, urology, plastics, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics. Larger facilities also include neurosurgery, cardiovascular, trauma and transplant services. Surgical techs are compensated for certification. We also offer career progression with Surg Tech levels I, II and III and in some facilities, specialty team leadership positions. Intermountain Healthcare employs a Surgical Technology Practice Council as our Surgical Technologists are valuable team members with decision making rights for practice and policies that impact their individual work. We also employ specialty teams in certain settings where a Surgical Technologists who desire to become an expert may practice in a single specialty most of the time. Or if desired, a surgical technologist may work in a variety of settings and float within several hospitals in a geographical area. We have a place for every type of candidate!Surgical services shifts are primarily Monday-Friday, day time work and allow for 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12 hour shifts equaling prn, part or full time hours depending on personal circumstances and availability. Some limited night shifts with a set schedule are available for the person who wants to work nights allowing for family or school obligations. Due to limited emergencies and late cases, some evening and occasional weekend call for daytime staff may be involved. However, in most of our geographical areas, rural and community hospital settings allow for more weekday, daytime care. Rural facilities also allow for broader skill development as our rural surgical teams cross cover several areas. There is a spot for every personal circumstance! Shift Details: Full Time - 40 hours per week

This position could be filled as a Surgical Tech II or Surgical Tech III depending on experience and qualifications.OR Tech II Entry Rate: $21.81 or more, depending on experience

OR Tech III Entry Rate: $23.99 or more depending on experience

Minimum QualificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program (ORT)

Graduate from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, but not currently eligible to sit for Tech in Surgery exam (NCCT)

Or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years.

Preferred QualificationsActive National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is required within one year of becoming eligible with a maximum of four years to become qualified for certification.

Two years of surgical services experience.

Additional Details:A 5% pay increase differential is added to base pay for Park City and Heber Valley Hospitals, increasing your base pay to . This geographic differential pay addition is evaluated on a yearly basis and may be subject to change

Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.and -

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).and -
