Carpenter

Terra Firma Builders is seeking to add experienced carpenters to our crew.

We focus on large renovations, often containing high-transformation / heavy structural aspects, finished in custom casework and millwork manufactured in our own shop. New construction residential homes are part of our usual dealings as well. Job sites typically cover most of Chittenden County as well as the western half of Washington County.

Foundation & Site Work

Floor Framing

Wall Framing

Roof Framing

Exterior Trim & Siding

Window Installation

Interior Trim

Flooring

Cabinet Installation

Punch List

Millwork (shop)

Cabinet and Casework (shop)

Experienced carpenters should be comfortable with most aspects of both new construction and large remodel projects. Experience in shop work is not necessary. The following abilities are required to be successful:

Read basic prints

Understand typical structural components of a house

Utilize basic math

Stay focused and organized

Communicate with co-workers

Formulate a plan of action

Problem solve, critical thinking, and thinking ahead

Knowledge of materials and construction techniques

Proficient in using all of the typical tools

Accurately measure, cut, and install

Apart from seeking experienced carpenters, we also welcome apprentice carpenters with at least a basic understanding of tools to apply for an entry level position. Apprentices are expected to have a desire and ability to learn the trade as well as follow orders from the experienced carpenters.
