This role will work across departments to

· Ensure the implementation of an innovation framework and discipline

· Uncover and quantify customer needs and

· Conceptualize opportunities for new products in under-served or over-served markets.

To be successful, this role will embrace, learn, and teach the outcome-driven innovation framework across the organization. The Innovation Strategist must become an expert in outcome-driven innovation and Jobs To Be Done (JTBD) as they will be responsible for training the organization on the fundamentals as well as caretake this innovation framework as part of the MVP Way. The person will embrace and embody a culture where business units work toward collaboration, innovation, and positive customer experience.

Working with both internal team members and external consultants, this role will work across the enterprise to prioritize core jobs, conduct qualitative interviews with customers, and then commission formal quantitative studies to produce a database of met and unmet customer needs by segment. The Innovation Strategist will share these results across the organization and facilitate feeding the results into product strategy, marketing, product management, human-centered design, customer engagement, operations, and other areas as applicable. This role is responsible for product concept design and ensuring the design is effectively communicated to the business so they can successfully establish a product roadmap and build, implement and/or maintain the product.

This role will, at first, serve as a “player/coach” role, leading the innovation work across the business as well as execution on individual workstreams, and management of associated budgets. Over time, responsibility for the leadership of a small team may evolve. This role will be the curator of the organization’s innovation methodology, and will continuously curate our processes, evangelizing them across the organization. Also, this position may be involved with M&A and market scanning activity, assessing initial buy vs. build viewpoints and the attractiveness of inorganic entry into markets. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience:

  • Seven years of professional experience in a multi-disciplined setting, either in health care, marketing, retail, or other consumer-focused business
  • One year of professional experience in health care, preferably health insurance, bio-pharmaceuticals or care delivery
  • Past supervisory experience of professionals preferred
  • Prior experience with leading/facilitating cross-functional teams
  • Experience with or exposure to Outcome-Driven Innovation, JTBD, Design Thinking, Lean and Agile/Scrum
  • Analytics/data-driven background strongly preferred
  • Experience with multi-channel digital asset delivery preferred

  • Intrapreneurial business skills including leading, influencing, integrating and synchronizing new concepts
  • Willingness to learn, teach and facilitate the JTBD methodology
  • Segmenting markets, identifying target customers, and uncovering unmet customer needs as input to innovative products, services, and programs
  • Generating insights into areas of opportunity
  • Creating and delivering product concept presentations to diverse audiences
  • Translating requirements for multiple audiences using Job Stories (JTBD) or other relevant formats
  • Facilitating vendor evaluation and build vs. buy decisions
  • Using and managing outsourced market research
