Location: Montpelier, VT Salary: Flexible Description: The Network Administrator's role is a key member of the team to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software and communication links. Individual will also analyze and resolve end user desktop hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. This Network Administrator team supports multiple offices, distribution centers and manufacturing plants. Travel to various plant locations will be required.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the network servers' operating systems, including print, remote access and backup servers and their associated software.

• Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices.

• Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.

• Analyze, resolve and provide support for all end user desktop computing hardware and software.

• Maintain predetermined policies, procedures and associated plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.

• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation, and technical specification information.

• Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights.

• Support solutions with a focus on security, availability & performance.

• Support users as tier II Help Desk support.

• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

• Perform assigned and preapproved network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

• Deliver end-user training.

• Work within IS team to effectively troubleshoot problems reported by users and ensure problems are resolved satisfactorily.

• Perform other tasks and work with other departments as directed by supervisor.

Essential Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to deal with a wide range of people including plant line employees, IT technical analysts and architects, Managers/Directors and business unit management.

• Ability and willingness to work flexibly, under pressure and able to meet deadlines without prompting.

• A team player who understands how to build consensus and ensure tasks and deliverables are being completed.

• Ability to produce high quality results in a dynamic work environment that involves numerous system and business process changes, new service/product development, regulatory changes, and volume fluctuations.

• High degree of initiative and flexibility.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a manufacturing environment

• Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows

• Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of work station support

• Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience

• Can effectively utilize various hardware & network diagnostic tools

• Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office and SharePoint

• Experience in the support of software solutions, systems

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Keen attention to detail

Qualifications:

• Help desk support experience

• Customer Service / support experience

• Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings

• Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals (up to 75 lbs.)

Work Conditions:

• Sitting for extended periods of time

• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components

All positions are preferred to be at our Waitsfield, VT administrative office, but the first three could work from our Andover, MA corporate office. The Network Administrator position will be based out of our Waitsfield, VT office for easier proximity to plant and other locations.
