About the Opportunity

The Office of the CIO, National Advisory & Assessments Security (NAAS) group, has an immediate opening for an Information Security Advisor, reporting to the National IT Deputy Information Security Officer.
  • Lead & support Security risk assessments, consulting assignments, Security legal contract review, & Security Complication Reviews (SCR) by hosting meetings, researching, assessing, planning, and managing scope to remain on schedule.
  • Provide ongoing support from initiation through to completion for overall large-scale security initiatives for NAAS Leads & NIT Deputy Information Security Officer including:
  • End-to-end project management (including providing input on meeting agendas/summaries, follow-ups, escalation, & coordinating logistics etc.)
  • Creating project charters, manage open risk/issues log, PowerPoint presentations, and comfortable presenting security topics.
  • Takes initiative to drive communication, engagement, support, adoption of security best practice concepts across the entire NIT organization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of supported cyber / information disciplines and builds relationships by assessing, evaluating, and fully understanding the needs and requirements of partners.

What You Will Do:
  • Using JIRA (and other productivity management tools) organize, assess, and manage workload for 8-person team using Agile methodologies and JIRA. Host & drive stands-ups & weekly meetings for review.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prepare, and host meetings for product squads, cohorts, and various levels of governance forums.
  • Assist in the development of NAAS security-related presentations, and other educational materials; facilitate training or awareness sessions to promote team vision & objectives as operating model evolves.
  • Work collaboratively with National IT Partners to develop and achieve Organizational, Team, and Individuals objectives
  • Provide support for ongoing activities, planning and budget cycle activities, and any ad-hoc needs for analysis, portfolio realignment, reorganization, or re-planning.
  • Advises stakeholders on best practices and how to implement the necessary changes to address their business needs. May prepare recommended alternatives. Reviews and assesses necessary data to be used in addressing the business and information cyber security needs.
  • Flexibility to performs other related duties as assigned & support is required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Agile Project Management, Scrum Master (does not require certification but requires proven track records of organizing and managing large "Book of Work" incorporating Agile best practices), Cybersecurity subject matter expert, Business & Technical Analysis, Risk Assessments
  • Minimum years of experience 8-10 in Program/Project Management, Information Security, Operational Risk Management, and/or Security Posture Management
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Agile/Scrum master experience, Certifications in project management and portfolio management, desired, but not required
  • Security Certifications such as CISSP or CSSP as preferred
  • Comfortable with creating polished Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong ability to think on a high-level and to be able to perform hands-on activities
  • Ability to keep track of multiple projects at once
  • Experience in navigating enterprise level initiatives
  • Plan, organize, prepare, and conduct standing JIRA reviews
  • Agile/Scrum master experience, Certifications in project management and portfolio management, desired, but not required
  • Enthusiastic and energetic team player, communicates in a mature & respectful manner, has a desire to learn/ be coached/mentored, excellent critical thinking/analytical skills, extremely organized, ability to simplify complex subject matter, ability to manage stress level & tolerate uncertainty for short period of time, adaptable & flexible, can function independently when assigned assignments and given guidance, can work 40 hours during "normal" business hours (i.e. 8a-5p, 9a-6p), available to, occasionally, work outside of designated hours to support team with last minute requests, ability to travel once a quarter for 3 consecutive days

  • The hiring range is $107,000 - $169,400 annually.
  • For candidates outside Richmond, VA, listed hiring and salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.
  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
