Overview: This position participates in and develops and presents training curriculum for software systems to employees throughout IDA-Systems and Analysis Center (SAC) and IDA-Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI); periodically reviews training requirements; ensures access to appropriate user documentation; determines necessity of follow-up training sessions; ensures that controls and procedures are complied with; responds to Systems Development and Implementation related Help Desk tickets. #ITatIDA

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and presents training curriculum, including on-line training/interactive tutorials using adult learning and on-line training principals, and user documentation (manuals, quick reference guides, etc.) concerning the use of the IDA software systems by working closely with the functional staff and application developers or vendors.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and conducts the training of all levels of personnel, as needed, in use of the IDA software systems. Provides users with access to software and corporate data where authorized.
  • Periodically reviews training needs and requirements for business software and updates the curriculum and courseware as needed. Determines the need for, and conducts, follow-up and/or refresher training sessions, as required.
  • Ensures that responses are provided to Help Desk tickets concerning SDI supported systems. Works with the user to understand the user's concern and how to correct the situation. If the concern is an actual error in the software, documents the problem and works with the appropriate Systems Development and Implementation project leader to correct the problem.
  • Serves as project leader for support of systems that have significant support or interface requirements. Act as liaison between users and vendors/developers for the installation and maintenance of new software releases and modifications. Assists vendors/developers in identifying and isolating problems with their installed software, and installs and tests vendor updates and fixes. Ensures compliance with configuration management procedures in all software-related activities.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, or related field coupled with three years relevant experience, which includes at least two years in training OR high school diploma with five years relevant experience, which includes at least two years in training.
    • Familiar with developing and presenting training content for users of computer applications.
    • Familiar with developing on-line training and on-line training principles.
    • Familiar with adult learning principles.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including SharePoint a plus.
    • Knowledge of languages such as Visual Basic, Scripting languages, and/or HTML a plus.
    • Must be organized, self-motivated and able to work with moderate supervision.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
    • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
