One of my client companies is seeking an Assistant General Manager with upscale restaurant (knowledgel of wine and spirits) experience and preferred management experience. Base salary is $60-65K plus benefits5 PTO days and health benefits.
The Assistant General Manager will help ensure an exceptional guest experience, foster a positive and productive work environment, manage daily operations, and assist with human resource functions. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the Director of Operations to uphold company standards, strengthen team performance, and drive the restaurant’s continued success.
Responsibilities:
Schedule staff according to labor goals and sales forecasts, effectively managing overtime.
Build strong, positive relationships with team members, guests, and vendors.
Uphold and promote the company’s commitment to local, sustainable, and responsible food practices.
Uphold and enhance the company brand, culture, and operational standards.
Ensure team members perform their duties effectively, taking proactive and results-driven action when needed.
Partner with front-of-house staff to ensure a full understanding of menu items, ingredients, and selling points.
Consistently deliver and model an exceptional, upscale guest experience.
Apply and reinforce progressive discipline in line with company standards, policies, and handbooks.
Conduct or ensure completion of audits, including financial, sanitation, food safety, and HR compliance.
Hire, train, and supervise team members to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
Assist with marketing efforts, including website content and social media presence.
Stay current on industry trends, tools, and techniques through ongoing education and professional development.
Monitor financial performance to ensure profitability and cost efficiency.
Support recruitment, training, and retention initiatives to minimize turnover.
Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and recognition.
Promote effective conflict resolution, address guest or staff issues promptly, respectfully, and constructively.
Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service and safety regulations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience working in an upscale restaurant, farm-to-table experience a plus.
Minimum 2-3 years of management in a full-service environment
Knowledge of wine and spirits.
Strong passion for the hospitality industry and desire to create unique and memorable dining experiences.
Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and protocols.
Strong leadership and communication skills; able to lead and foster a Team-oriented environment.
Industry-related certification/education or related experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized with exceptional time management abilities
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Approachable, open-minded, and an active listener.
